Manic Miner - Silver Anniversary Edition
So, there was a game by a bloke called Smith. It was a simple little game that involved running around and jumping at things. Thing is, it got a bit of a, well, following…..
That game was, of course, Hyper Sports. Jonathan Smith eh? What a genius!
Cracking the WIP
Long hot summers eh? A nice cool beer by the pool, The barbecue sizzling away, some Genesis or Pink Floyd playing in the background…. It’s not ideal conditions to get off your fat butts and code is it?
Well, thanks to global warming, summers are PANTS these days, which is probably why we have some brand spanking new WIPs to play with!
Hampstead
Well, I’ve upped my RAM, swapped out my graphics card for a better model and increased my swap file JUST so I can play Sparkes’ latest offering, Hampstead. In these here parts we don’t see many remakes that push the limits of the PC right to the max.
Hampstead is a real life simulator allowing you to push your life from the bleak, unemployed starting point of the game to the heady heights of wealth and success
The P Project
May, it seems, is international make-a-remake month and there is some chuffin’ interesting and exciting stuff out there. Dragon’s Harrier Attack: The Second Sortie, Coderneedsfood’s Dropzone and the continuing work on Fatsegal’s Saboteur are all getting me wobbly at the knees whilst Sparkes’ port of Endurion’s Joe Gunn to that beast of a machine that is the ZX Spectrum is a work of art beyond compare
War Twat
Subtle, it must be said, is NOT a word that springs to mind when describing Oddbob.
Neither are quiet, sane, Southern or, thankfully, idle. For inbetwixt the fiddling and the rearranging of the site and forums, administering of various threads, keeping a healthy chat-room presence and having a life outside of Retro-Remakes Towers, Bob has chucked together enough code, graphics and sound to produce one of the most discussed games in ages on the forum. The git!
Saboteur
FatSegal, it seems, went to the same games shop as I did, They stocked 4 games in there, you know, The Wild Bunch, Chuckie Egg 2, Saboteur and Wriggler. I played these 4 games to death on my Speccy and I’ve been playing the first 2 again on my (insert Java based device of choice here) since the portly one ported them and stuck ‘em on the forum.
