We are the Robots

Guess who’s back, back again? RetroSpec! Tell a friend! Yes they are here with a shiny and metallic looking remake of Alien 8, so it’s time to get your isometric groove on, Daddio! Oh yes!

*cough* Well I think that is more than enough exclamation marks for one news post, but it’s not every day that a remake so anticipated and so long in the making finally appears. There are still several other RetroSpec remakes that I’m patiently waiting to see and this does give me a little hope.

The game should need no introduction and love it or hate it you can’t deny it was a milestone game for the Spectrum and deserves respect for kicking the graphics up a notch. The authors of this fine looking remake certainly seem to have paid their respects to the source material and if you were a fan of the Speccy version back in the day then hopefully you are in for a treat.

I\'m too old for this shit!

I don’t know why (close but no cigar, etc) but this game always makes me think of the fantastic movie Silent Running, and I’m sure it was an inspiration for Alien 8 and also Pssst! (I thought you said no more exclamation marks? - Ed.) (Bugger! - Caff) before it.

Go save some spacemen today - cryogenic suspension is sooo overrated.
