Let there be much rejoicing in breadbox land, as Georg “Endurion” Rottensteiner has released the finished version of his original C64 platformer, Joe Gunn. This explore-em-up has you jumping, climbing and collecting your way through the ancient tomb of the Crocodile King, piecing together artifacts and solving puzzles.

Joe Gunn final

I’ll be right there, your worship!

Unless you’re a clever dick who can get the disk image onto your C64, you’ll need a handy emulator like Vice or CCS64 to play. And do let Georg know what you think of his labours over at the forum discussion.

There’s no way I’d have got through an article with a picture of “The Throne Room” without a toilet joke :D

Well played! You’re a better man than I.

Just because it didn’t make the final cut doesn’t mean one didn’t occur to me as well. :x

It really is quite a good game, and properly tough like old games of this sort were. The only way I’ll make it through is with Vice’s memory snapshot feature acting as my save game.

Expect a write up of this in RGCD 3! Nice one - really cool to see this one finished. Have you listed it on CSDB?

Not personally, but someone else did. Plus intro and trainer.

There’s awiki entry in the german C64 wiki as well thanks to Sledgie: http://www.c64-wiki.de/index.php/Joe_Gunn

Great comments on Lemon64, and it’s amazing that the CSDb folks already have a crack/intro for it. Clearly the C64 community is still going strong.

Yeah, i also got a list of three bugs so far.
I’ll wait a bit and release a fixed version. Only one will be a safety puzzle since there is a way to get stuck right now. The others are subtleties (typo and sound is not correctly reset on start).
