Project MULE
Help Us Out: Add your game to the showcase | Help us keep RR online
Being a Spectrum owner, MULE is a game that never even registered on my radar to many years later, even then it was little more than a slight curiosity (not being a great fan of resource management games as a rule).
However, after many a late night chat to our forumite Rockfistus, he finally convinced me to give it a go and well, he didn’t really change my opinion too much but I was truly looking forward to his remake that sadly never made it to the finishing line.
Whats my point? Well, cocked if I know - I think its something to do with owning a Spectrum and therefor never getting to play MULE. Whilst slipping in a less than subtle reminder that Rocky has a half finished game there that needs completing at some point… If only there was an easier way of getting this post from A to B…
Ah, a picture - that’ll get us there faster.
So then. Mule. Not available on the Speccy… perhaps that will change now, albeit belatedly, thanks to Project MULE. Already in dev and in need of a final push, Project MULE is an attempt to bring what I’m assured is classic gameplay of MULE to the humble Spectrum. A noble project indeed, find out much more by following the yellow brick link and going off to see the wizard (well, Alcoholics Anonymous) at the World Of Spectrum forums.

Hello Retro Remakes reader! Perhaps you'd like to comment on this piece?.
Please feel free to emit your innermost and deepest thoughts on our articles, well, providing they're not too disturbing or rude. We'd appreciate it if you'd keep things polite. Thanks!

M.U.L.E. is one of the CLASSICS of gaming! What the world needs is an online version of the game with realtime trading. Xbox Live Arcade anyone?
now this is more like it. the general retro scene is getting more interesting of late. what with stuff like this and people finally trying to tap into and source oldskool gameplay elements. whether or not they are remaking originals or not. ace.
You Brits just wont play a game if it’s not on the spectrum will you?
There were other computers? ;)
Ah, M.U.L.E., another of those brilliant early games on the C64. A great game and one outside the mold, like other C64 titles such as Archon, Murder On The Zinderneuf, and Crush, Crumble & Chomp.
Makes a break from the Speccy world of platformer, platformer, platformer, isometric platformer, platformer, football management sim, platformer… :)
Kevin Toms FTW :P
Yes, there were other computers like the C64. The games on it had great music and more than 3 colors.
Now now, be fair to the Speccy. You mean “more than 8″. ;)
(Stand by for the inevitable “brown” comments from the colour-clash-philic crowd…)
Brown!
(you called?)
Without brown we wouldn’t have chocolate. Or bunnies. Or sticks. Or indeed, chocolate bunnies on sticks. Praise be to brown!
What was the topic again? Oh yes, MULE. A mule kicked me in the head. Now every day is Christmas. Brown Christmas.
