It’s Settlers Jim, but not as we know it… well to be honest it actually is pretty much as we know it, but I wasn’t going to allow such a trifling point to stop me using that quote.

The open source (GPL) remake WideLands has been updated to build 10 a little while ago, which includes updates such as a new tribe called The Empire, the “Tribe Ware encyclopaedia”, more music, higher res graphics and many many bug fixes.

I used to play Settlers on the Amiga for hours on end, although to be honest most of the reason was my ex made me “because she liked the sound effects especially the grunting pigs in the pigfarm”…. Ooooh-kaay then.

Oh.. it’s available ready compiled for Linux, Windows, MacOSX, and hot off the presses there is a port for FreeBSD also. If you are feeling daring you could always grab the source and compile it for yourself.
