Jet Set Willy Online Retro Game Remake

In the heart of Transylvania, in the Retro Remakes hall of fame…yeah… oh never mind all that, its Jet Set Willy Online and its finally got the revision it deserves (we don’t talk about 2.11, that never happened if anyone asks).

2.12, lots of new modes and maps to play with - The Laboratory, Miner Willy, Assault Course, Pitfall Willy, Dark Tower, Chain Games, Jailbreak… something for everyone then. Lots of fixes too (oh joys) - you can check out the manual before hand if you’re curious as to the changes.

It’ll be over on t’Rodent and up at the JSWO Portal soon enough, in the meantime, you can grab it here.

Veck 2 - Retro Game

Oh dear, Smayds is attempting to break our eyes again. I caught wind of an early sample of this over the weekend thanks to Mr Smayds, and at that point, there wasn’t the slightest game in it, just the fluid dynamics and some rather mentalist autopilot stuff - and it was eye bogglingly beautiful then.

And now…well, looks like theres a game there. Which is nice. Veck 2 looks to be shaping up nicely indeed. If it doesn’t, then we can all pile round to Smayds house and beat him senseless for fun!

UPDATE! : Smayds has posted a video of Veck 2 in action here

Man, you kids today - you’ve got it just so easy.

Darnit, I’d even go so far as to say you’re spoilt rotten.Sitting there with your Xbox Live Achievments on Geometry Wars, bragging about your scores and how long you survived for.

Well, man - I hate to break it to you, but you really do have it easy. You’ve got time to think, man. Y’hear? Time to think. Read more

Guxt Retro Style Game

Many thanks to Tim at Independent Gaming for the speedy news that Pixel (of Cave Story fame, do keep up) has just released his latest game, Guxt - this time round, its a little beast of a shooter that colour scheme wise wouldn’t have looked too out of place in our recent competition. It is, as Tim tactfully put it a “tough cookie though”.

I’ve only had two quick blasts on it so far and managed to scrape my sorry arse as far as the first checkpoint. Must do better methinks. Good, if ever so slightly brutal fun.

Keith Goes Painting Retro Game

With my ever fading memory (I’m getting on a bit y’know) I can’t recall if we actually mentioned Keith Goes Painting outside the confines of our forums - so, on the off chance we didn’t…ok, not just on the off chance - there is a good reason.

Dan Danger, the be-horsed author of the game has released the source code and resource files to the game on its website for anyone interested in taking a gander. You’ve probably heard about it on The Arsecast in recent months anyway, providing you’re the right thinking sort - but there you go. Keith Goes Painting. With source. And balloons. And radiators.

Monsters And Mushrooms Retro Game Remake

Blimmeny, it doesn’t get more retro looking than this does it? Monsters and Mushrooms is a forthcoming remake of the garden-blast-em-up Millipede from Dellopis written in PyGame.

Maybe I’m a little bit odd, but I really like the simple look of it so far and as long as it keeps the frantic blasting action I’ll be most happy. You can find info on Dellopis’ blog about how its progressing.

In the meantime, if you’re gagging for some multi-legged action, why not console yourself with Minions VFD styled Centipede remake to pass the time?
