It’s getting hot in here…

…so take off all your clothes… Umm, on second thoughts, let’s play some remakes instead shall we?

Good to be back in news posting mode. Here is a trio of goodness to make you forget about the weather for a little while.

To try and stop the sun and heat killing you through your face, why not take a trip to the land of snow and ice and hypnotise yourself with cool thoughts while playing the new update of Push Push Penguin by Tomaz of RetroSpec. This delicious new version includes on-line high scores so now you can take on the whole world with your pushing skills.

It’s good to see a game from one of our previous competitions getting a nice update like that, showing that not all of them were totally abandoned after the closing date.

Everyone has heard the following cliché, but it is as true today as it was when I was a young whipper snapper. In space no one can make ice cream. A sad fact indeed, but luckily space is pretty cold already so a lack of Rocky Road can be excused. If the icecaps of our previous game were not cold enough for you then perhaps the latest version of Oolite, a create and constantly improving remake of Elite, will hit the spot.

Just like ice cream this remake is available in several flavours, so whether you are a Windows user, a Linux user, or a Mac user you will be able to take a Cobra III out joyriding through the galaxy.

Have you ever played Sentinel? If not why not? If you have nadir what all the fuss is about over this game, or if you are a big fan, then you must go and download Zenith by John Valentine.

I’m doing a little dance around the room at this very moment because someone has finally answered my prayers and done a hardware accelerated remake of this classic game. If this isn’t a cool game to play in this hot weather then I don’t know what is.

Almost midnight here and the keys on my keyboard are melting into gooey blobs, so I better wrap this up for now.

Quick news due to heat…

Good evening.

Did someone say “remakes” ? Ah, good, good. I have some for you.

Many years ago, I spilt tea over the cassette of Lode Runner from Software Projects, so I gave the rather oversized codesheet away. Unfortunately for me, the tape dried out and I was left without the codesheet. Luckily, to make up for all that may I present to you Mikedoty’s rather nice Lode Runner X. Over 6 months in the making, loads of new features and multiplayer joy for one and all.

Still on a traditional note, Natto Cat is a twisted take on Boulderdash involving kittens, custard and a fair old splash of claret. Contains one of the most unnervingly thick sounding thud noises ever.

Its like Torville and Dean never happened, its like Bruce Willis never saved the day - it can only be one thing…

Ice Teroids is Mark Crawleys slick take on the old Asteroids genre, involving lots of shooting and lots of ice. So, don your heroes helmet, buckle up and save the Earth.

Ta ta for now, enjoy the games people.

Cripes, has it really been that long since we posted news? Oh dear. My apologies, things have been a bit busy at RR towers for the past few weeks.

On the bright side though, it means we have plenty of games for you to get stuck into.

Zarchman is what happens when you cross Zarch with Pacman… a concept I never thought I’d live the day to see. Float your little ship around, collecting the gems, blowing the living heck out of tree’s and enemy spaceships and most of all - have fun.

The curse of Magic Knight has been broken! Pobatti has slunk into our forum with his helmet firmly gripped and pulled the velvet curtain from around his remake of the David Jones classic Knight Tyme. So, if you’re in need of some windimation, then you need look no further.

His name is Jas, and he is truly amazing! So amazing that just before the competition began he rushed his little cotton socks off to clear off a few remakes from his list of stuff in progress - so, hopping onto your kangaroo and inflicting some sort of bdsm upon it, sport and drifting over to SpacialFX you can find finished remakes of Rally-X and Fishing Derby, which is nice.

If turned based dwarf stroking is your kettle of beards, then perhaps I can interest you in The Warriors Tale, a game that one of our forumites has described as “a bit like The Bards Tale 4″. So, if you fancy taking on some odd looking fellows with a pointy stick and a beard - then haway you go!

And from beard stroking to egg whipping in one easy lesson, its onto Pteals tender touching of the DizzyAge engine to emit forth a yolky dream game in the shape of Treasure Island Dizzy. So careful not to drown your little white oval pal and enjoy.

Well, that should tide you over till our next news post. Something for all tastes I believe. Back soon with more (hopefully)
