Hello everyone I’ve just been PressGang-ed into the admin team, so my first news post is to say that it’s Absolutely Fabulous to be here. Party on, dudes.

RSS news thieves

Some sites (like classic-retro-games.com) keep stealing our news uncredited through our RSS feed.

Please chaps, this isn’t on. We and everyone involved in Retro Remakes put a lot of hard work and effort into both making and cataloguing the remakes. The RSS feed is there for the convenience of our readers not for you to pad out your site with our work.

If you can’t be bothered writing and finding your own news, don’t insult us by stealing ours and then not crediting us. Thank you.

That said and done, how about some proper news…

First up, some site stuff. You may have noticed the level of disarray on the site since Xmas, we apologise sincerely for that, unfortunately for all the admins life has interrupted us for a while and we just haven’t had the time to remedy it. But, having said that - we’re on our way back now. The new look forum is now up and ready for you to peruse and the rest of the site will be getting a lick of paint over the next few weeks. All broken links etc… from the front page and archive page I’ll be fixing over the next few hours with a new look site to follow soon. This may mean a short period where the main page will be replaced by a holding page whilst we upload everything, but we’ll give you ample warning of when thats going ahead.

We’ve added loads of new features to the forum including Remakers profile pages, a gallery and some other bits n bobs and you’re more than welcome to nip your head in and say hello.

How about some remakes now, then?

Archon Evolution now has, for a limited time, a public beta version available for you to sample. So, grab it before it disappears and don’t forget to leave the team some feedback on what you make of the game!

How about a bit of The Last V8 action? Splodgeman has taken on the noble task of bringing the nifty little budget bonanza game back to life on the PC with some very fine graphics styled from the inlay. Its progressing nicely and I’m quite looking forward to getting my mits on the finished version when its done.

Bob Hindle has dropped us a line to let us know about a little collection of Remakey goodness tucked away here. A lot of it appears to be experimental stuff, but there’s some Dizzy action, some Doom action and some Diablo action amongst other things. I’ve not had chance to run through them all yet, so I’ll let you be my eyes and ears.

Thats all for now! Back soon.

Under the gun…

Gather round yonder children, for I have a story to tell. It is a story of, well, ummm, remakes news really. I’ll just get on with it, eh?

First up, delivered telepathically from the brainbonce nodes is Detris3. Which is a combination of death and Tetris, only without the death bit. So, if you’re on the lookout for some block dropping feats then nip on over and use those eye stalks upon it.

Have you got two sticks? Well, I hope so because you’re going to need them if you want to truly enjoy the next package I have to thrust upon you. Mark Incitti, Blitz veteran of a fine few remakes in the past has been forcing me to grab tight hold of my sticks and shoot for all I’m worth with his excellent variation on a certain Xbox360 title. Its called GridWars so it shouldn’t take a genius to work out that its a remake of Geometry Wars BlitzMaxifiedicationalised. Its very good and as a bonus, includes source code for those curious souls.

A quick WIPwatch from our forumage, the Jas that is Amazing (AmazingJas - factfans) has dropped in a rather neat little work in progress of an Astrosmash variant called RetroSmash!. Its simple fun, but unfortunately time suckingly addictive. Well worth checking out.

More soon, but there should be plenty of playtime to engage you until next our paths doth crosseth. Happy playing.
