We did the Mash…

…and it was a graveyard smash!
Sometimes it amazes me the breadth of material that gets remade, its a fantastic testament to the madness and joy that a remaker has. Who’dathunkit that we’d have a Barbie remake ready to grace the list for one thing?
We also have a couple of typing tutors from Giletech. For your typification (a word I’ve just made up) you can find a version of Space Invaders and a version of Breakout to get your fingers ever so nimble on the keyboard. Sadly, no Typing Of The Dead remake to enjoy! Ah well, we can’t have it all.
Seens as we’re still in a bizarre mood how about Monadius, a fabby remake of Gradius with vector graphics, and curiously enough, written in Haskell (the choice of the discerning hacker, I believe). Its a great idea and quite quite playable.
If Space Invaders had been created today given the penchant for bullet hell shooters and abstract graphics, would it perhaps have looked like Nomltest? . Probably not, but its still rather fun seeing a classic being given the bullet hell treatment.
Vectrex Thrust has been around for a fair while now and is widely considered (at least, I consider it) to be a cracking feat of coding and a wonderful game to boot. As well as the source code now being available for those curious as to how you’d go about creating a game for the Vectrex, there’s also a fabulous overlay for maximum Old Skool thrills. Having taken a quick peek at the Emix8 website, I also spied a PacMan remake for Windows for your downloady goodness. Really chaps, if you’ve not seen Vectrex Thrust there’s something wonky in your face and you should remedy it this instant.
Thats enough for tonight I think (unless my wife can’t find something better for me to do) so I’ll leave you to ponder these games before I raid the “to post” archives once more.
