That crazy Smila, the one man remaking machine has been at it again. Not content with 2 entries into this years competition,far be it from him to rest on his laurels.
He’s just released his latest creation upon us, a rather pretty version of the *ahem* classic Aztec Challenge, I’ve just had a quick blast on it and it looks absolutely gorgeous - although I did get stabbed through the skull repeatedly with pointy sticks.
First Blood
Greetings chaps and chappettes. Pull up a chair, I’ve got a veritable cornucopia of nudes,I mean news(must remember not to get those two mixed up) for you to enjoy…
First up,a little something for you Linux lovers out there - a Linux port of the Amiga 1200 AGA Breakout malarkey TecnoballZ (not my l33t spelling), not running a Linux box I’ve not tried it myself,but it looks rather strokeable and should be worth a few moments out of your life.
Net Bubble is a Linux,BeOS and Windows remake of one of my favourite games of all time (of all time,mate) Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move. It looks stonkingly gorgeous and as an added bonus is lan/interweb enabled. Lovely.
A certain Alexey Diyan has a couple of remakes up his sleeve and on his website for you to enjoy. Gruz 2 is a cute looking Sokoban clone described as “Analogue of the classical came “Sokoban” with changed algorithm moving boxes”. You can’t argue with that really,can you? Naturally,it comes with the obligatory level editor.
Also on his site is a fair Arkanoid clone jobby. The source is also available for any curious souls.
Some festive remaking goodness for you to gorge yourself upon next.
Bombermania Christmas is a beautiful festive Bomberman clone with lovely 3d gfx, definitely one for all you Bomberman fans out there. PacManic is…err…a 3d Pacman with a festive theme. You’d have never guessed would you? Yes,yes - I know xmas is over, but I’ve only just got here,k - besides, why stop celebrating so soon?
For all you RiscOS users, how about a PacMania remake just for you? Never let it be said we don’t include everyone here!
No screenshots on this one,but Flynnybebe assures me that its very playable but still has temporary gfx in place. What is it then? Why,its MarioFX a Super Mario Clone. You knows it,clart.
And last but by no means least, a couple of goodies from our forum members.
Our resident pest and prolific remaker DarkSide has gone to great pains to point out that Equinox is due for release very soon. Having played a demo of it myself, I can say its looking rather sexy indeed.
Wolverine has pointed us in the direction of PugFuglyGames and their Galaga-esque “Revenge Of The Robot Cats From Mars”. A tough little shooter, but one which deserves applause for its name alone.
Finally, Jetmans Dad, one of our competition winners has shifted his website lock,stock and barrel over to Remakers hosting as part of his prize, so you can now grab Stop The Express and check out his upcoming releases there.

After weeks of protracted negotiations involving rich tea biscuits, a pair of high heeled shoes, a tub of swarfega and a penguin named Ian, I am pleased to announce that Oddbob has agreed to become the new 4th member of the team here at Retro Remakes.
Bob has been an active member of the scene for a few years now and many of you will know him from the forum or chat regulary with him on IRC. In his time he has produced a number of great remakes, and some truly awful ones too, so his knowledge of all things remakey and his pixelling talents should prove invaluable to us.

How fast are your balls?
Well there you go, one minute I’m wishing Mezkal a merry Christmas and the next hes talking about his remix of Nation12’s take on Brutal Deluxe!
What does this mean though? Well, apparently there is a Halflife 2 mod in the pipeline, a remake of the one and only Speedball 2 which they are naming sourceball.

Just a quick one before i get back to the festive preperations… TCK has released v1.1 of Transversion EX. Theres a few bug fixes and tweaks and should be final now. I think the hiscore submitting may have changed slightly so you will HAVE to get it if you wanna upload scores. Please note, Caffs got a paypal button on his frontpage. Any amount would help him buy BlitzMax and make us plenty more lovely remakes. Merry Xmas.
