January 30, 2003 · Filed Under Retro Remakes News · Comments Off

Saw this posted on the forum, with a comment from hitm4n saying he would post it as news later today. Ho hum. Guess who whipped in and stole his thunder.

Anyway it concerns a new remake of Dizzy in 3D. Our old egg shaped friend gets a makeover thanks to this project, done in Dark Basic. So far there are only a couple of pre-rendered screens to view, check them out here.

Looks EGG-cellent so far :p

#remakes irc channel

January 21, 2003 · Filed Under Retro Remakes News · Comments Off

There have been two major additions to the #remakes irc channel (found on EFNET or via the applet above) … they are firstly the introduction of a new bot to join delboy and tr1gger … please welcome onboard b0yc3y our search bot.

The second feature is a search facility which will allow you to search for any game on the remakes list. By typing !search followed by a keyword b0yc3y will generate urls from our remakes list. So to search for Zub you type !search zub.

This feature is still a WIP so we would appreciate some feedback. If you search for a word and it causes the bot to go crazy please let us know what the word was so we can block it from searches.

Never joined us on IRC ?? Why not pop along :p

Poing and a new project !!

January 6, 2003 · Filed Under Retro Remakes News · Comments Off

Andy from Firestorm Productions has advised me that a non-seasonal version of Poing, version 0.8.0, will be released shortly.

His website also has news about a NEW project that the team has started. It is a game called Onslaught. To quote Andy, “Onslaught will attempt to bring together a mix of many classic arcade elements from Smash TV, Robotron, Asteroids and Omega Race. Right now the game is at a very early alpha stage and there’s nothing much to see (or download), but any demo releases will be put here as and when they become available.”

Should be a cracker if Poing is anything to go by :)

Dracula’s Shadow

January 3, 2003 · Filed Under Retro Remakes News · Comments Off

Archimedes has advised me of a new update to Dracula’s Shadow, his Castlevania remake. This new version includes new monsters, new levels and things like item crashes and the possibility of creating a magic potion by combining together ingredients found during the quest.

You can also control different characters at the same time in different areas of the game (with a special potion called Divide Potion). Grab your copy of the game here.

Q Bert is pretty flash ….

Euromatic emailed me a Flash version of the old arcade hit QBert. This was one of my all time faves, and as it was not a direct link I have uploaded the file on our site - you can grab it here.
