Flip and Flop remake?
  • I wonder why nobody did a Flip and Flop remake until now. A very nice Q*Bert like game from First Star Software. This would definately be worth to play again... :)
  • I'd never heard of this game before so I had to Google it.

Even though I didn't know the name I can still recognize the screenshot, so I've seen pictures of it before.

But why has no one remade it? -good question. I'd imagine it's because it's not terribly well known?
...being 3D doesn't help as fewer 3D games are being remade than games in 2D.
  • Heh, I think I remember playing this game but didn't remember the name.

Maybe it's another one I could remake in the Iso-Realms engine after Spindizzy?  Although IIRC the game uses some "Escher"-style impossible structures, so I guess it probably wouldn't work in true 3D.

I'm not sure the original poster can wait that long. http://tardis.dk/images/smilies/wink.gif
...but it looks fun. I actually have my sights on another Q-Bert clone for sometime in the future.
  • It's really a nice little game in the ghost of Q*Bert. But somewhat extended. It's not really 3D - more like isometric. A remake would be very much appreciated! :)
  • Wow, what a rip-off of Bobby Bearing. Make sure to keep those animals away from the LEDGE... know what I mean? ;)

Anyway, yes this is a great game. A remake would be quite fun!
  • It was a very fun game, I clearly remember it and still play from time to time.

Actually, creating the static art assets for this game in 3D is extremely simple - like 1-2 hrs of work.

Friends, Joe's an artist - lets not give him a chance to finish his own game...lets flood him with requests for graphics for our own games. :P

    How's Feud coming btw?
  • Actually, I`ve created the mesh for basic blocks for Flip&Flop and am composing them together to form a level, just out of fun.

I`m not an artist, mind you. I`m a programmer. So, it`ll be a programmer`s art, eh.

Feud - good question - I remember spending whole weekend (about a month ago) on the terrain rendering part- so that I have smooth transitions between various types of material. I finished that and lemme think where I halted...

I know - I`ve started creating the base 3d meshes for buildings. But I`ve realized very soon, that if I want to cram as much detail as Shrek`s hat had, it`s going to take very much time :-(
Didn`t have a chance to work on anything since, save for the current creative obsession targeted towards Flip&Flop :-)

I`ll upload some screens soon ;-)
  • OK, here`s a basic mesh of first level:

Although, personally I`d like a dark version much more
  • Personally I'd like to see some ladders *cheeky grin*
