Or, "I'm surprised the entertainment industry took so long to resurrect the idea". Think there'll be protests this time around? (I'm already planning on writing letters to my Congresspeople, but given I live in The Great State of County Music, I expect nothing from any of them.)
I don't think they need to learn. I think they already know exactly what they are doing. Now they just need to wear everyone down until they finally go, "fine, whatever" - or if that doesn't fit their timetable create some new panic to make such absurd controls "necessary".
I've already come to terms (but still complain) with the fact that as far as consumer tech goes, the US is 2 to 10 years behind most of the rest of the world. I'm still trying to come to terms with ridiculously limited net bandwith and usage caps, as well as data/voice/text caps on cell/smartphone usage. I guess I need to resign myself to the end of the Internet and privacy as we know it in the US?
