How many times can one say never again without turning into some sort of shadowy James Bond figure? This competition shouldn't exist, we'd all but sworn off competitions forever - when along came The Caffeine Kid with his crazy dreams and crazy idea's.
"Hey guys, lets have another competition" he said.
"You organise it, then" we said.
"O.K." he said.
...and he did, and then some. He's worked tirelessly to bring you the biggest and best competition that we've ever ran, with some of the finest sponsors stumping up over £3,000 pounds worth of prizes for you to win... and not only that but every submission that complies with the rules will go away with a prize also.
But of course, you're not interested in what go on behind the scenes - you're interested in what you've got to do to actually enter and win this competition aren't you?
You may notice that the rules are pretty hefty this year, with a huge amount of clarifications and points for you to take note of. We're afraid that due to previous competitions we were forced into being as clear as we possibly could with regards to every single point due to the amount of people who couldn't follow the simplest of rules without nitpicking.
What it boils down to though, is this:
"Good remakes of good games that anyone can play, regardless of their ability"
It really is that simple, we're not asking you to limit your choices, stifle your creativity - quite the opposite. We're just asking you to consider, whilst writing your game, that not everyone is of the same ability and wherever appropriate to tailor your remake accordingly. We'll have Barrie Ellis of oneswitch.org.uk on hand throughout the competition as our official Accessibility Advisor should you need any assistance.
So, what else? Well we have prizes for the 1st-3rd placed entries, prizes for the best use of sound, prizes for the best use of visuals, prizes for the most accessible remake and a special prize in honour of our much missed admin, and the man who started us on the road to yearly competitions - Steve Phelps aka The Toker. In addition to all these prizes, we have random spot prizes to hand out from each of the judges for whatever they see fit and a prize for every entry that complies with the rules.
In a nutshell, lots of opportunities for you to win something regardless of where your skills lie.
Enough of my waffle, let the competition begin! Once again we're asking you to pre-register to reserve an upload slot for the competition - you can find the form after the rules. |
